2022 Ford Escape

With the 2022 Escape, you can pick one of 10 trims: the S, SE, SE Plug-In Hybrid, SE Hybrid, SEL, SEL Hybrid, SEL Plug-In Hybrid, Titanium, Titanium Hybrid, or Titanium Plug-In Hybrid. This vehicle has a prominent black grille, a smaller lower grille, the Ford Blue Oval on the front of the hood, chrome dual exhaust, and daytime running lights. Front and rear skid plates, 17-inch wheels, a body-colored rear spoiler, and a rear windshield wiper and washer are standard as well. You can add LED or halogen fog lights, privacy glass, a hands-free power liftgate, heated side mirrors, roof rails, a panoramic sunroof, 18- or 19-inch wheels, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Available colors are Atlas Blue Metallic, Rapid Red Metallic, Stone Blue, Star White Metallic, Iced Blue Silver, Iconic Silver, Agate Black, and Carbonized Gray.

The three-cylinder, 1.5-liter, turbocharged EcoBoost engine offers 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. You can also choose a turbocharged, four-cylinder, 2.0-liter EcoBoost motor that gives 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Both engines use an eight-speed automatic transmission, and an automatic start-and-stop system saves gas by preventing idling in traffic. It keeps accessories like the heater on and turns the engine on and off automatically. With hybrid models, you'll get an 88-kilowatt electric motor and a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder gas engine. Together, they produce 198 horsepower. The plug-in hybrid provides 155 horsepower and 220 pound-feet of torque. Both types of hybrid have a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

The Escape has great acceleration, electronic curve control for easier turning, and maneuverable power steering. You can select slippery, sport, normal, deep snow/sand, or eco driving modes. With the 2.0-liter engine, there's also a manual mode. You can choose all-wheel drive with a two-wheel-drive mode and an engine block heater as well.
