The 2021 Ford F-150 is the first of the newest generation of America's favorite truck. Just when you think that the F-150 can't get any better, it raises the bar in such a way that shows us it has hardly begun. Here's a look at what the latest incarnation of this ready-for-anything truck has to offer.
Trim Levels
The 2021 Ford F-150 is available in six primary trim levels: the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited. Choose from three cab styles and three box lengths to create the truck best suited for your needs. The F-150 offers an impressive array of exterior upgrades, such as the Pro Power Onboard system that turns your truck into a rolling generator. Add the selectable zone lighting system to illuminate the ground around your truck, as well as the cargo box. Upgrade to the power tailgate to raise and lower your tailgate with the push of a button.
Engine
The F-150 sports one of six engines. The first is a 3.3-liter V-6 that offers 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. Up next is the 325-horsepower 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 that produces 400 pound-feet of torque. The available 5.0-liter V-8 gives you 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Opt for the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 for 400 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. If you're looking for diesel, choose the 3.0-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel that delivers 250 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque. The brand-new 3.5-liter PowerBoost full hybrid V-6 engine punches out 430 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque.
A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard across the board.
Performance
Equip your F-150 with the available four-wheel-drive system to get access to more of the selectable drive modes, including Deep Snow/Sand, Mud/Ruts, Trail, and Slippery. If you want to increase your F-150's ability to handle its own where the pavement ends, choose a model equipped with the FX4 Off-Road package. The 2021 Ford Raptor, which offers even more off-road confidence, is set to arrive later in the 2021 model year. Properly equipped, the F-150 achieves a best-in-class towing capacity of 14,000 pounds and a best-in-class 3,325-pound payload rating.
Interior
Inside the F-150, you'll find more exciting interior features the further up the trim levels you go. The Lariat is the first step into the truck's luxury offerings, giving you leather upholstery, a 12-inch touch screen, and seats with heating and ventilation functions. Choose the King Ranch for a Southwest style, complete with an eight-speaker sound system, a wireless phone charger, and a heated steering wheel. The Limited takes things up a notch with an 18-speaker B&O sound system, premium leather massaging front seats, and more.
Safety Features
The 2021 Ford F-150 XL comes equipped with a lane-departure warning and forward collision mitigation system that automatically applies the truck's brakes if it detects an imminent collision. Upgrade to the XLT to add the blind spot information system, rear automatic braking, and lane-keeping assist. These smart Ford Co-Pilot360 technologies work wonders when it comes to keeping you and your truck out of harm's way around other vehicles.
